As we’ve mentioned on the podcast many times, it seems as though Lionsgate has given up on their attempts to attract an arthouse audience with their Studio Canal Collection Blu-rays here in the states. Who knows when or if we’ll see those out of print Criterion titles return to the Collection, or find a new US distributor.
Some disc details from Studio Canal:
“The original copy of Grand Illusion : An Extraordinary Story”, told by Natacha Laurent, Toulouse French Cinema library manager. (12 min)
“Françoise Giroud remembers the shooting” (10 min)
“The Little Match Girl”, by Jean Renoir (29 min)
“Introduction to Grand Illusion”, by Ginette Vincendeau, Cinema professor and movie critic (12 min)
“An eye on the movie” by John Truby
Movie Trailers from 1937 & 1956 – Introduction to the movie by Jean Renoir
“La Restauration de La Grande Illusion”
